The city’s mixed choir “Vardar” performed in the hall of the National Theater – Gevgelija, under the baton of Jasmina Gjorgjeska Karo. The audience in Gevgelija had the opportunity to enjoy part of the choir’s rich and diverse repertoire, which includes choral compositions from different musical genres, periods and composers.
The choir has existed for 25 years and has received several recognitions and awards in Macedonia and abroad. It was formed on the initiative of the seniors of the Academic Choir “Mirche Acev” together with maestro Dragan Šuplevski. The name is taken from the oldest choir that was formed in Skopje in 1907.
What is interesting for the Gevgelija audience is the fact that from the formation of this choir, in 2000, until 2015, its conductor was our fellow citizen Ilija Atanasov.
The concert was part of the anniversary tour “From Vardar to Vardar”, organized to mark the 25th anniversary of the choir’s existence. The tour symbolically follows the course of the Vardar River – from Gostivar, through Veles and Gradsko, and now to Gevgelija, as the fourth stop on this musical journey through Macedonia.
