In the settlement of Sermenin, construction activities continue on the project for the reconstruction of the old school and the construction of an eco-bike path , which is being implemented with the support of the Interreg VI-A Cross-Border Cooperation Programme between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia 2021–2027 , funded by the European Union.
Within the current phase of the works , the roof structure is being changed and a truss is being installed , which creates the prerequisites for stability and further adaptation of the building. After the completion of this phase , the interior and facade will be renovated , in order to give the old school a completely new, modern look.
The Municipality of Gevgelija informs that the activities are taking place according to the planned dynamics and that the project represents a significant step towards revitalizing the settlement and improving the quality of life of its residents.
“With each such project, local development is strengthened and better conditions for life, recreation and tourism are created in rural areas,” the Municipality says.
In parallel with the construction work on the old school, the route for the construction of the new eco-bike path is being prepared, which will connect the school with the monastery.St. Elijah “, opening new opportunities for the development of active and sustainable tourism.
