The old school, which has been neglected for years, will get a completely new look after the completion of the project. As Mayor Saramandov pointed out, the building – renovated and modernly equipped – will be put into operation as a multifunctional space for citizens, associations and organizations. The expectations are that the space will be used for cultural, educational and tourist events, which will significantly enrich the social life in Sermenin.
The new eco-bike trail will start from the old school and extend to the “St. Ilija” monastery, creating new opportunities for recreation and development of rural tourism.
“This is an example of how, through the renewal of our past, we create a brighter future for our community,” noted Mayor Saramandov.
The project is funded by the EU through the Interreg VI A Cross-Border Cooperation Programme between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia 2021-2027
